Solar tent dryer, Drying is used to remove water from foods for two reasons: to prevent microorganisms and hence preserve the food and to reduce the weight and bulk of food for cheaper transport and storage. When carried out correctly, the nutritional quality, colour, flavor and texture of rehydrated foods are slightly less than fresh food but, for most people, this has only minor nutritional significance as dried foods form one component in the diet. However, if drying is carried out incorrectly there is a greater loss of nutritional and eating qualities and more seriously, a risk of microbial spoilage and possibly even food poisoning. , the heat from the sun couple with the wind has been used to dry food crops for preservation for the thousand years. Drying depends upon, temperature, humidity, quality of air used, size of the piece to be dried, physical structure and composition.  Heat is not the only factor which is necessary for drying. The condition, quality and amount of air passed over and through the pieces to be dried. The amount of moisture contained in the air to be used for the drying important and is referred to as relative humidity.

Solar tent dryer made by polycarbonate sheet, its shape is dome type. Various types of fruits, vegetable, spices and herbs can dry in soar tent dryer. Its used for large capacity. Feeding process is manual in solar tent dryer.  We can use trolley for feeding of material or can directly spread material on the floor of tent dryer. The numbers of trolley is 48 ad each trolley has 12 trays in which materials is spread. The size of solar tent dryer is too large and can available at any size according to requirement of customer. At top of the dryer ventilator is used. This type consists of a ridge tent framework, covered in clear plastic on the ends and the side facing the sun, and black plastic on the base and the side in shade. A drying rack is placed along the full length of the tent. The bottom edge of the clear plastic is rolled around a pole, which can be raised or lowered to control the flow of air into the drier. Moist air leaves through holes in the top corners of the tent.
The advantages of this type of drier are the low construction costs and simplicity of operation. However, like other types of solar drier, there is relatively poor control over the RH of the air in the drier and so, poor control over drying rates. It is also lightweight and fairly fragile when moved or in windy conditions.
